The Vomit Tops

I bought these 2 bright ribbed Land’s End T shirts five and a bit years ago. I remember because they were to be worn when I was staying with my sister and three week old nephew. I thought the bright colors would be good for his little eyes to look at and I wanted plenty of things that could get popped in the wash should they get thrown up upon. I can’t recall if that in fact happened; however, these will forever in my mind be the ‘Vomit Tops’.

Like I always say, washing and pressing Ts for refashioning makes them easier to cut. I press along the cutting line first as well. This purple T had become very stretched out so I took off an inch and a half from either side then fake-sergered the trimmed edges to keep them neat. I really must get one of those.

I found a wee orange book of T refashions on sale last time I was in the States (y’all know the one I mean). Cute stuff – for somebody half my age. Nonetheless, many can be cut so that they are not so revealing. Even in my very fit fencing days I would not have gone for a neckline as low as indicated for number seventy five….

(One just has to wing the cutting of the halter top part, but scraps from the sleeves would allow you to ‘modest-ify’ your T should you cut it not so right the first time out).

But, this is not so bad. I like how the ribbed fabric looks when you change the direction of the stripe. At times like these I wish I had a dressmaker’s form here in Hong Kong. I should drop in to the BH’s tailor and ask him where a gwielo might acquire such a thing at a reasonable cost.

At this point I had to stop so I could scurry out to the bank to deposit the spare yen and get out some cash for our weekend in Shanghai. The camera battery is being recharged now so the finishing touches will have to wait until we get back. I need to think on how I want to finish the edges anyway.
